Our personal habits as leaders impact not just our own mindset, but can influence the thinking and performance of our teams.
Miriam Errington, the Director of Miriam Errington Conveyancing joined Sally Hamilton from our team for the Realtime 5. She shares some fantastic insights on her personal habits for success, her business goals, the importance of good communication and her experience with digital transformation.
1. Start the Day RightFor Miriam, success starts first thing in the morning. She dedicates at least half an hour to reading a business book or an autobiography of a business owner. This simple ritual keeps her motivated and inspired for the day. And of course, a little help from her partner with a cup of coffee in bed doesn't hurt!
2. A Focus on Digital PresenceThis year, Miriam's top business focus has been on elevating her firm's online presence. She has been working with a brand strategist and a Google SEO professional to build a new website and ensure her business's message is being received by clients and referrers in the right way. This strategic investment in their digital footprint demonstrates her commitment to staying ahead in a rapidly evolving market.
3. Plan for GrowthWhen it came to making the switch to a new conveyancing platform, Miriam's decision was a strategic one. She knew she needed a modern and streamlined platform to complement her business's growth. As she intended to bring on new team members, the timing was crucial.
Miriam made the decision to transition to Realtime with her existing team member, Jennifer, so they could get comfortable with the new system before training new staff. This ensured that everyone would learn on the same platform from the start, avoiding confusion and streamlining the training process.
4. Improved Team Communication Creates ConfidenceMiriam's team works across three different offices. As such, great communication is extremely important. They find the task checklist and notes system within Realtime extremely helpful as it shares information easily and consistently.
This creates a high level of transparency and visibility on every file, allowing everyone to see who has done what and what still needs to be done. This has improved team communication and given them more confidence when speaking with clients, as they know exactly where each file stands.
Miriam's insights prove that a digital transformation is more than just new software - it's a strategic move that can improve team dynamics and support your business goals, while your behaviour as a leader is highly important to drive and influence success.
