Digital transformation gives conveyancers better tools and makes work easier

Written by Realtime Conveyancer | August 27, 2025

Sally: Hi everyone, and welcome to Realtime 5. This is a series where we speak to business owners—customers of Realtime—across South Australia and WA.

My name is Sally Hamilton. I’m the GM of Customer at Realtime, and today I have the Director of Morphett Vale Conveyancing, Dale Wood, joining us for our very first 5 in 5 in South Australia.

So, welcome Dale.

Dale: Thank you, thank you. Thanks for having me.

This 5 in 5 is really about getting to know our business owners and customers better—learning about business plans, what’s going on in the industry, and of course, their Realtime journey. So to start, Dale, from your personal perspective as a business owner in South Australia, what’s your take on how the conveyancing landscape is evolving right now?

Dale: Yeah, it’s interesting, Sally. There are a lot of changes. The conveyancing landscape is moving very quickly—more electronic, leaning towards a much more digital profession. This not only gives conveyancers flexibility to work remotely, but also makes it easier to keep up with the times. The digital transformation of conveyancing, in my opinion, is set to revolutionise property transactions—not only in South Australia but nationally.

Sally: Mm, for sure. Yeah, definitely. And I mean, it’s just going to continue to evolve with things like AML coming out shortly, digital VOIs, and of course, the PEXA journey that’s been underway for some years now.

Dale: That’s right.

Sally: So what’s been the biggest shift or evolution in your business as you’ve approached these industry movements this year and beyond?

Dale: I’d say it’s about running your business more efficiently, focusing on clear goals, and streamlining processes within your organisation and practices. For us, it’s also about reducing volumes of paper—becoming paperless with all transaction-related activities.

Sally: Yeah.

Dale: So yes, definitely a huge change—but exciting change moving forward.

Sally: Yeah, definitely. And speaking of change, you’ve recently come on board with Realtime Conveyancer—so thank you very much for trusting us with that decision.

Dale: No worries.

Sally: What made you decide to switch from the software you’d been using for many years, and how did that link to your business plans?

Dale: I started looking into it in early 2024, but things got away from us towards the end of the year.

Sally: Yep, that tends to happen.

Dale: So I was inquiring back then. But our decision to switch to Realtime was mainly because the program offered more features—and that’s still evolving now, with things like Adobe electronic signatures and so forth. Being able to work with one platform really helps, especially when working remotely.

Rather than flicking between various programs, the diversity within the Realtime platform is a huge benefit to our business moving forward.

Sally: That’s amazing to hear—and very much aligned with our belief that efficiency and streamlining are at the heart of Realtime’s ethos.

Dale: Yeah.

Sally: And now, still early in the journey, how have you found the onboarding and training experience with Realtime so far?

Dale: The journey with Realtime has only been a couple of months so far. The training’s been great, the support’s been great. We’re still going through some change management and training programs. But any questions we’ve had—yourself, Sally, and Renee, Jess—have all been very receptive and helpful. The transition has gone smoothly, and while there are still a few training elements to work through, it’s going very well.

Sally: Excellent. You’re doing very well—I’ll vouch for that.

Dale: Thank you.

Sally: And in terms of outcomes, we really see Realtime as a business partner for you now. As we continue to develop and evolve products, services, plug-ins, and integrations, we want to make sure you’re on that journey with us. Have you had any unexpected wins or early benefits in these first few months since moving over?

Dale: Oh, absolutely. Straight off the bat, post-settlement processing has become a lot easier and quicker to complete within Realtime. Closing files is much more streamlined. And from a management perspective, we can easily assess where team members are at with files. The workflow process ensures nothing gets missed in the system—which is hugely beneficial for any office.

Sally: Fantastic.

Dale: Yeah, for sure.

Sally: Awesome. Well, that’s our 5 in 5 done with Dale. Thank you so much for joining us for this fireside chat.

Dale: No worries.

Sally: We’re always here to assist with any enquiries. Reach out to your network in South Australia, and I’m sure our customers can expand on the experience they’ve had to date. Thank you again, Dale—really appreciate your time.

Dale: All right. Thanks for having me today.
